I saw this exhibit at the National Museum of Iceland in Reykjavik. I was too much of a cheapskate to spend the $60 on a book, which was only printed in Icelandic anyway. I took as many pictures as I could at the exhibit and of the actual book for sale. I loved this exhibit! It was titled, "Saga-Steads: In the footsteps of W.G. Collingwood." The exhibit displayed paintings by Collingwood from his ten week journey through Iceland in 1897. He painted images of various sites he visited that are said to be where events of The Sagas took place. These paintings are shown alongside photographs by Einar Falur, whose photographs were inspired by the paintings of Collingwood. Falur read Collinwood's travel journals, trying to get a sense of the feelings of the places he visited as well as and idea of the character of the people he met along the way. I have nearly fifty images which I took at the museum. I will post a handful below, but you can see many, many more at my flickr.
