Some notes from Mario Perinola's, Sex Appeal of the Inorganic
Page6/9 - Only a mind feels, not the body. Wax - inanimate object - if we remove all that is the wax, all that belongs to it - the color, figure, size, what is left? Something extended, flexible, and changeable. My senses do not allow me to see what the wax really is, it is my mind alone that, after 'the clothes come off' succeeds in seeing it entirely nude. How did I see Iceland? What was obstructing my view? How do I see others? What is obstructing my view?
Pretending to find the naked truth under deceitful appearances.
Page 7/10 To take a thing that feels means asking that one's own clothing be welcomed everywhere and for always, to the point of no longer being recognized either by oneself or by one's partner as belonging to someone. Thus the difference between giving an taking disappears and an extraneous body or, better, extraneous clothing appears that does not belong to anyone.
9/45 Beautiful clothing as a promise of a beautiful body
10/44-45 The skin/body as clothing to disguise the soul, cover-up. Make-up, tattooing, gymnastics, dietetics, plastic surgery are the next steps of a journey that leads to man almost thing.
11/46 Finally, the beauty of bodies, their masculine and feminine gender, their age no longer have any importance. What counts is their disposition and attitude to covering and being covered, to dressing and being dressed, to wrapping and being wrapped by fleshy tissues that have nothing organic any more, that cannot be distinguished from the clothing, the materials that usually hide them.
11/46 Excitement in sexuality does not occur when your body is as an organ, alive, awake, asleep, etc. Imagine yourself as clothing?
15/105 Photography - The technological reproduction of the image is precisely the opposite of the cult that surrounds the unique object, which is part of an ordered collection, both collecting and photography share the same tendency to dissolve the spatial confines of the work. In front of a camera lens, nature is really 'all of one piece.' This activity remains halfway between organic and inorganic. Exclude what seems to be discordant with the coherence of the image, the artificiality of this isolation produces the opposite effect.
