This is a blog to track the progress of an independent study I have created with the help of my professor, Phillip Thurtle. My intention in this study is to learn as much as I can in six to eight weeks about Icelandic culture, literature, history, and arts. I will begin my study this June and continue on throughout my trip to Iceland. There, I plan to research the Icelanders relationship to nature, wildlife, and their surrounding environment. I will, in turn, relate these ideas to that of the Icelandic child, finding a connection to the child's world view, possibly one quite different from that of children in the United States.
